Help Nemo's Parents get Covid-19 Care
Our long-time friend and business partner of Yuyo, Nemo Solanki's parents, Horam Solanki age 73, and mom Madhu Solanki 63 have been diagnosed with Covid-19 in Nashik, India. The hospital situation in Nashik is horrific and cannot treat them sufficiently, so they are having to navigate homecare while keeping both her mother and father on oxygen. Nemo's brother and sister have had to quit their job to take care of their family and make sure their parents survive. The loopholes they have to go through to provide sufficient care for their parents is unimaginable to us here in the United States and with almost 2 people per bed in India and the lack of supplies, sending someone to the hospital can be a death sentence. Nemo has been a long-time, trusted, well-loved friend and huge builder of our community and she is the sole financial provider for her family's care at this moment. We are asking to help take this burden off of her - she cannot work any harder than she already does and want to support her and her loving parents to help them recover from this horrific illness.
These funds will go directly to Nemo's family to pay for in-home oxygen care, a certified nurse assistant to monitor their health, and to assist with looming medical bills and recovery efforts. Their family is currently paying $700 a day to keep their parents battling this fight for their lives.
Statement from the family:
The challenges for the people of India battling Covid are making news headlines around the world. The shortages of hospital beds, supplemental oxygen, and medicine are well documented. Most of our family in Nashik India have come down with Covid symptoms and are isolating at the family home. Her father has been in a medical crisis at various times with dangerously low blood oxygen saturation and incredibly high blood sugar levels. He will likely require 30-60 days of constant monitoring and care. Her mother, nephew, and sisters have all been symptomatic as well, to varying degrees of severity. The family has come together to care for one another, but all are unable to work which leaves the entire family to be financially supported by us in the United States. They do not have access to medical insurance. The out-of-pocket medical expenses for absolutely necessary supplies and video physician visits have become unmanageable for the family.
We are grateful for the money raised to help our family manage this medical crisis and to help support their basic needs until all of them fully recover. If any surplus funds are left over once her family recovers, then the family will pay it forward and assist other families to secure the resources they need to battle and survive Covid in their community.
