Nemo's Medical Bills

Our sweet rescue dog Nemo (2 1/2 years old) fell ill on 6-8-25. He was throwing up his food Sunday night into Monday morning. I took him to our primary vet on Monday 6-9-25. They gave him three shots to make him feel better; anti nausea, b12, and antibiotics. Tuesday morning he was back to eating in small bits, but he declined greatly in the evening on Tuesday 6-10-25. He was drooling uncontrollably, his back legs were shaking, and most concerning he got extremely bloated.

The primary vets were closed, so we had to go to a 24hr emergency vet. We were there from 11pm to 4:30am. They gave him more anti nausea medicine (it last for 24hrs), they drained the fluid in his stomach that was making him bloated. He did look and feel a little better after that. They said we could take him home, but recommend an ultrasound when they were available in the morning.

We went to our vet Wednesday (6-11-25) for the ultrasound since they are closer. Unfortunately they said it would take 5-7 business days. They made it seem like he wasn't in any immediate danger or anything to be concerned about. We trusted them, unfortunately.

A couple hours later, Nemo started to look really bad again. The bloating was coming back, drooling again, and not moving a lot. and he threw up all the water he drank that day (we were told to have him keep eating if he could, he wasn't eating food since the tiny amounts on Tuesday, but he was drinking water and both the er vet and our vet said that was okay for him to do).

We (My partner Jameson and myself) took Nemo back to the Emergency vet for same day ultrasound results, in fear of blockage now.

Thankfully no blockage, but he has had to stay in the emergency vet from 6-11-25 to current. He was stable the first day, but now his pancreas and liver are having higher counts. It could be due to gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, and or this ileus he's had (the fluid build up) causing all these current issues. They're still trying to pinpoint the exact reason, but they are treating him to get his GI track moving, pancreatitis and medicine for his liver.

We are not expecting this full goal to be reached by any means. This is the low end of the bill since this is still on going. It went from a little under $3,000, but as soon as he developed liver issues with more overnights added it went to a possible $9,000+. We are trying our best to handle most of the bill. We greatly appreciate any help, but we're not expecting others to pay the entire bill for us. Any little bit will help us and Nemo. Nothing is terminal as of yet and the doctor seems hopeful. We just want our boy to feel better and come home.

I will be adding all of the receipts for proof very soon. We're stopping by to see him today 6-13-25 and will get the updated itemize list. Sorry this is so long, but a lot has happened and I want to be fully transparent.

I'm sorry I have to keep moving the price up, this is getting more serious than we thought it would.
