Help Nelson With Hip Surgery
Donation protected
A plea to help save the dog with a bullet in his hip.
Nelson is a beautiful 9-month-old rescue found outside KFC in Bulgaria begging for scraps of chicken.
I immediately fell for this sweet-natured dog. He was limping, but the rescue centre outside Amsterdam told me it was just a bruised hip. He had already had an X-ray and just needed rest. On that basis, I took him home.
I soon went to a vet for a check-up. He advised that we take another x-ray to double-check everything.
He called me a day later to tell me, “I have some bad news…Nelson has a bullet in his hip. Someone shot him. I can see the bullet, and the femur at the joint has smashed to pieces. It’s a miracle he can even walk, let alone be so sweet. I am so sorry.”
We immediately consulted an orthopaedic surgeon and have these options:
1) Amputate - which I wish to avoid.
2) Hip reconstruction surgery - €2000
3) Hip replacement (recommended) - €5000
If enough people donate, we can soon reach at least €2000 and give him a new lease on life. You can see from the x-ray that this will not heal by itself.
Any amount would be greatly appreciated, small or large. Many hands make light work.
Nelson would forever be in your debt.
I love this dog.
Please help him if you love a dog too.
He’ll never walk alone again.
