I am starting this fundraiser to help my sister in law Evelyn Mahinay Tan, brother, Nelnel, a 33-year-old devoted husband and father to two beautiful daughters, Kiona and Kellie.

Their family had a dream of building a better future in Canada. Nelnel and his wife worked hard toward this goal they sold their small business and used all their savings to process their immigration and work applications. His wife was able to arrive in Canada ahead of him and has been working at Wendy’s for over a year under a work permit status, preparing for their family’s new beginning.

But before Nelnel could follow, tragedy struck. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in the Philippines. Since then, the family’s plans and dreams have been put on hold as they face an unimaginable emotional and financial battle.

His wife is now faced with a painful choice she needs to take a leave of absence from work in Canada to return home (Philippines) and care for her husband. The family has already used up all their savings on medical bills, chemotherapy treatments, and other expenses related to his care.

Despite the hardship, their faith remains strong. Nelnel continues to fight bravely, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family.

We are humbly asking for your prayers and financial support to help cover his medical and treatment expenses, as well as the cost of his wife’s travel and time off work. Every contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward helping this young family through the most difficult time of their lives.
