Update 12/20/24
Nelly has lost complete mobility and feeling in her back legs yet again. This time it happened aggressively overnight. She is unable to stand to go potty and has been laying in her bed on pee pads having bowl movements in bed.
Without pet insurance I am unable to afford the surgery necessary to correct her condition.
Hello, my name is Gabrielle and I’m raising funds for emergency medical care for my 3 year old French Bulldog Nelly.
On Wednesday 11/27/24 Nelly began to have discomfort in her hind legs, crying out in pain with any sort of pressure put on her little body, it aggressively got worse. Within 48 hours she completely lost mobility of her back legs.
After a visit to the emergency room, Nelly was diagnosed with IVDD intervertebral disc disease.
IVDD is a common spinal cord condition in French bulldogs. It occurs when the soft discs between the vertebrae in the spine degenerate or herniate, putting pressure on the spinal cord.
At this time she is on pain meds and steroids.
It’s recommended that Nelly receive surgery to relieve the pressure on her spine, which cost upwards of 10k.
Due to my financial situation I am unable to afford to pay for this surgical procedure.
Nelly has been in perfect heath and active her entire life, no illness or anything that would predict this sudden loss of mobility.
Nelly is unable to walk even just a few feet let alone walk up or down stairs to use the bathroom (I live on the second story of my apartment) I have to carry her.
Nelly is my best friend and I hate to see her this way, helpless and distraught.
Please if you are able to help in anyway possible so that Nelly can receive this surgery to relieve her spine we would be eternally grateful for your kindness.
Thank you in advance

Update 12/2/24
Nelly is doing better with meds on board. She is resilient and is able to walk again to go potty though she is on strict bed rest for a month. Surgery is still the ultimate goal to correct her condition (IVDD). Thank you to those who have donated and shared. We’re not out of the woods yet.
