Last night, my cat Nelly was electrocuted. I heard a weird noise and turned to see her latched onto an electrical cord on her side, convulsing. I jumped up and pried the cord out of her mouth. She laid there completely lifeless. I shook her and rushed her to the emergency vet. She was given an ultrasound and x-rays. She has severe burns in her mouth, may lose sight in one eye, and has damage to her lungs. She’s not out of the woods, as electrocution in animals normally doesn’t present fully until 12-48 hours after the shock. She had immediate damage. I’ve done everything I possibly can and have her home, monitoring her and dosing her with meds and strict things to look for for immediate return to the emergency veterinarian.

Most of you know I’ve had a real tough go of it the past year (or longer). Luckily, I qualified for care credit or I don’t know what I would have done. My credit cards are all maxed out. I can’t find part-time work to supplement my other job since losing my main source of income and the help of a partner. Nelly is my baby. She is only four years old and I don’t know what’s going to happen. If you have the funds to help, I appreciate it.
