Could really use some help for my granddaughter, Nellie. She is 5 years old and was born with Caudal Regression Syndrome. This is a defect of the spine that affects the development of the lower body. In a nutshell, she was born with no rectum and the inability to urinate. She currently has to live life with a colostomy bag and an additional hole leading into her bladder to keep it drained. She has to wear a diaper around her waist to collect the urine. The good news is that they think they can do reconstructive surgery to fix these issues. The bad news is that my daughter and son-in-law will have to travel to Washington, DC, and stay there for up to 1 month, and that's the part we need help with. This trip could cost up to around $10,000. I will do anything and everything I can for my granddaughter, but unfortunately, I do not have enough to cover all of this, so I'm finding myself asking for help from the public. Anything that anyone can do would be greatly appreciated.
