Nelisha is a young woman who is incredibly ambitious, kind, reflective, thoughtful, giving and resilient. Her loved ones and strangers alike have experienced her kindness and unconditional support. Her passion for supporting others emerges in both her personal and professional life. She has spent over ten years working in the social services sector, servicing individuals with disabilities and complex medical conditions. Her determination to continue this journey of supporting others led her to pursue her Master of Social Work earlier this year.

Nelisha was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. She is still going through testing to determine the stage of cancer. Since the diagnosis, Nelisha has been processing how cancer has and may change her life. At 34 years, Nelisha and her troops are suiting up for the battle of her life, with determination and resilience.

Due to her diagnosis, Nelisha is on medical leave from work and school. This changes her financial status to afford the resources she may need while undergoing treatment. Nelisha has access to OHIP covered services such as chemotherapy and medical treatment. However, many additional costs are not covered by OHIP or insurance.
