Help Nehemiah Thrive with His New Family

I’m so grateful if you even made it this far and pressed the link. Me, Lisette, and my husband Danny were given the biggest blessing anyone could ever ask for in the most unconventional way, but it was God's way. Many know Danny doesn’t have his own child, and when we got married, I couldn’t have any more children. He accepted me and my daughter and loved me regardless!

One day, I went to work and I encountered a woman, and she gave me her baby. We have had Nehemiah since he was 5 months old! Yes, she gave me her baby! Birth certificate, card, all of his belongings. We have spent the last year trying to get custody, and that has been its own journey because there are no laws for people giving a baby to a stranger. It’s very hard to file paperwork on such a thing that there’s not even a law for, but God worked in our favor and we were able to get custody of him as of last week. We have full custody and are able to be in the adoption process.

For the first five months of his life, he was given to five different people. I was the sixth one, so I don’t know what he went through those first five months of his life, but we know as he’s growing now, it has affected him. We do believe that he’s on the spectrum. We are taking him to many doctors and therapies, and there are going to be things that we have to purchase and pay for that are obviously very unexpected because we were not expecting a baby. When it happened, it wasn’t even a thought of what we had in store ahead of us. It was just a reaction to save this baby, and thank God that we did because the mother does have three other children that were taken and were adopted out as well.

So, we are making this GoFundMe to help start this baby boy’s life the way it should be and be able to pay for the adoption, which we don’t know exactly how much that’s gonna cost right now. We just pray this touches everyone that it needs to and spreads awareness to situations like this. Maybe one day they’ll make a law for this type of situation to easily maneuver because it has definitely been a lot of obstacles, a lot of tears, a lot of fears because there are no laws in place for people just giving their babies to a stranger. I just pray that this story touches whom it needs to, and we appreciate everyone who is taking the time to even read our story and engage.
