In the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm that ravaged Jamaica, the island now stands on the brink of a human rights crisis. Families have lost their homes, communities are struggling to access basic necessities, and hope is fading fast.
My mother and I are collecting funds to send barrels filled with essential supplies such as food, clean water, clothing, feminine hygiene products, baby formula, diapers, sanitation items, and other urgently needed materials requested by local communities. Every donation, no matter the size, helps bring relief and restore dignity to those rebuilding their lives in Negril and across Jamaica. Please give what you can. Together, we can help Jamaica rise again.
I am from Negril, Jamaica, and much of my family still lives there. We were fortunate to experience minimal damage, but many of our neighbors were not as lucky. Countless families have lost their homes, their livelihoods, and, heartbreakingly, some, even their loved ones. While the government is working to provide relief, it is also our responsibility to stand together and support one another.
Rather than remain still, let us take action. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and help rebuild these beautiful communities.
