Help Needed With Sylvie's Medical Care
Tax deductible
Sylvie was found as a stray and taken to an animal shelter. The shelter refused to take her, since her finders didn't have an appointment, and told them they were full and to take her back to where they found her and let her go. Many shelters have resorted to this tactic due to a lack of space. Shelters and rescues are being contacted at an all-time high by people wanting to surrender their pets. Knowing that was not what was best for Sylvie, her finders took her home with them, even though their lease prohibited them from having a pet. They reached out to another rescue, who then contacted us. We agreed to take her but asked that the shelter post her as a found pet so that after her stray hold time was up, we could provide medical care for her.
No one came for her, most likely because Sylvie has a large tumor under her tail. Testing has shown it is cancer. She has undergone treatment to help shrink the tumor so that it can be removed. She has had six weeks of weekly IVs of medication followed by SANA wave treatment. Xrays show that it has not metastasized to her lungs.
You may be wondering why we are trying to save a dog who has such a serious disease. You see, Sylvie is just about the sweetest girl, and we feel it is our responsibility to help her live a better life. She loves attention and even likes to give kisses. She patiently waits at the vet on her treatment days, and the staff loves her so much they take turns eating lunch with her.
Sylvie does not have the benefit of having a pet parent who loves her and will pay for her care, so it takes kind-hearted and generous people like you, to help us help her. If you feel like we do and want to help Sylvie live a better life, please join me in making a difference. All the funds raised will directly benefit Sylvie. I am counting on my fellow animal lovers to help this sweet girl and give her a lease on life. Any donation will help make an impact.
Sylvie will be looking for a "pyrfect" home after her surgery. If you are interested in adopting her, the application is on our website, igpr.org.
