Hi, my name is Katie. I am a cat lover, owning 4 cats of my own. I have discovered a small colony at stray cats in the alleyway behind my home.
I have made a 'cat den' to help with shelter and to put food out for them. However these cats will need to be neutered so that the small colony stays just that, small!
I do not have the funds to be able to afford to get these cats neutered, therefore I am reaching out to you, the general public, fellow animal lovers.
If anyone can spare even £1 towards getting these babies neutered to stop the breeding I would be eternally grateful.
Myself and my 17 year old daughter Kelsey, are currently working on building up the trust with them. Recently all of them have come into the yard at least for a small amount of time whilst we are out there. With the 3 small tux's playing with a laser pen with us while out there and coming close to us.
Whilst working on them getting more comfortable with us so we can hopefully trap them easier, I would love to be able to get the funds together to start getting them to the vets to get them neutered!
Abit more back story.
These were first discovered when a neighbour came to me for help because he had found a mummy had had her babies in his greenhouse. I got this mummy and baby rescued the same day after checking all the houses around the alley. Talking to people I realised there seemed to be a lot of cats that people thought were stray. I invesigated this and found that there was indeed a small colony living in the alleyway.
At this time I discovered a 4/5 week old baby kitten was left mostly unattended in the dirty alleyway. He ate biscuits i chucked for him, so I knew he would be better off getting rescued, even without mummy, because i could get him quickly and then he could start getting socialised and find a forever hime when he is old enough. The next day we managed to catch him and he was collected by the same lovely rescue volunteer who came for them mummy and babies from the greenhouse.
Since this time (beginning of August) I have made a cat den (well my hubby made it) to help give the cats some shelter, especially with the colder months on the way. This also helps to keep the food dryer. We are working on how to make some kind of roof to cover it more because rain still blows in if weather is bad.
There are 7 cats that I know are part od the colony. We have suzie who is a white and black cat, she is mummy to the 3 little tux's that we have called Mush, Room and Smudge. We do not know the gender of the tux's. There is another white and black that we have called Steve, we are pretty sure he is a boy. Then we have a tiny little lady who was the mummy to the 4/5 week old baby who was recused. Her name is Tinkerbell and she is black. Then the last one we know is another black one called Mark, but we are not sure of the gender.
We do not know for sure if this is the only cats from this colony, but these are the ones we know of. A few days ago another little tux was rescued from a little further down the alleyway. Approx 10 weeks old. We do not know if they are from the colony but he was from the same area so there is a possibility.
