Hi everyone, my name is Dave Cree, and I’m sharing this because the next few years are going to be difficult, and I need help to get through them. In 2007, I had major spinal fusion surgery. Recently, that fusion has failed, and I now have loose screws in my spine. The pain is constant and severe, and it’s made it difficult to work more than a half day.

My medical reality…

Under Alberta’s current healthcare system, here’s the timeline I’m facing:

• 3 months → wait for another mandatory test

• Up to 18 months → wait for an MRI

• 12–18 months → before surgery can even be scheduled

That means I’m likely 3 years away from the surgery I urgently need. During this time, my mobility is limited, my pain is significant, and my ability to work full time has been drastically reduced.

Why I’m asking for help…

Between campaigning for the 2025 Fall election and my reduced capacity to work, my finances have been stretched thin. I want to run provincially in the future, but right now, I can barely sustain myself physically and financially while I wait for surgery.

I’m raising funds to cover…

• medical treatments that help manage the pain

• physiotherapy and chiropractic support mobility supports

• income lost from only being able to work part-time

• basic living expenses during the healing down time after desperately needed surgery

Why this matters…

For 30 years, I’ve navigated Alberta’s healthcare system. I’ve seen it get more strained, underfunded, and overburdened every year. My experience isn’t unique, and that’s exactly the problem. I’m sharing my story because I want to raise awareness of what thousands of Albertans are going through. No one should have to live in pain for years waiting for the care they need.
