Help to Keep Mama & Daughter Housed

Creating this fundraiser as a last resort for a mama and daughter for whom I have great love & respect. This mama has always shown up for community, so let's show up for her!

"After finishing my Masters degree in Social Work in 2016 I continued my work in Homeless Outreach while employed by Santa Barbara County, building relationships with folks experiencing severe mental illness who have been medically traumatized by our current healthcare system.

I’ve suffered from migraine disease and a seizure disorder since the age of 18. Despite my disabilities I remained stalwart in maintaining my employment as a single mother attempting to escape generational poverty. However, I became chronically ill and could not deny my disabilities. I tried my best to push, through.

It came to a point where despite having worked so hard to endure my disabilities and maintain employment to support my daughters, I ultimately lost the ability to drive and to work.

I’m eternally grateful to my friends and especially to the houseless community that has supported my family in our time of need. Our houseless community has literally pan handled for food when we haven’t been able to access the food bank.

At this time I’m at serious risk of losing my housing as a single mother with a twelve-year-old. I had to obtain a $2000 loan to pay the security deposit on our one-bedroom apartment, and although I pay our rent on time each month, because of my limited income due to disability, I am not able to make regular payments to consolidate the loan for the deposit for mine and my daughter's housing.

The long-term disability insurance that I rely upon to pay our rent is running out, and despite appealing for Social Security disability over five times, there is no other assistance available to me, leaving my family with no income as I am permanently disabled.

My daughters and I also have endured post-separation abuse during the years long high conflict custody battle against the abusive father of my daughter. He continues to threaten my family, requiring that I hire a lawyer to whom I am in debt over $2500 dollars.

How you can help:

My family needs assistance crowdsourcing funds to assist with payment of the deposit loan to maintain our housing.

I attend our food bank monthly but our family is still in need of groceries.

We need help with ongoing costs for maintaining the lawyer we require for our protection, and to pay off the debt owed to him.

We also need assistance with medical care and transportation as I have been unable to drive for three years and Medicare is limited in providing specialized care for my disabilities.

A trusted friend has offered to manage any funding as we will lose all income without long-term disability insurance, leaving us in need of help for ongoing living expenses.

If you can provide any assistance for my family it will be greatly appreciated and paid forward in service.

I spend the majority of my days housebound due to migraine, seizures, fibromyalgia and c-PTSD. I have also been a victim of domestic violence.

I do my best to give back in my community despite these challenges, and doing so brings me joy and purpose.

I greatly appreciate any support you can give."
