Help needed to continue important work in the Wetlands.

About the cause
I’ve been dedicating in 2023 and 2024 3-4 months and in this season every weekend, alongside a small team of volunteers, to protecting Victoria’s wetlands — documenting illegal duck shooting, environmental damage and the destruction of sacred Aboriginal sites like scarred and toe-hole trees as well as rescuing injured ducks and other wildlife,
We’ve spent the duck shooting seasons on the ground, doing the work that government authorities often fail to cover due to staff shortages, unclear responsibilities, bias, and a fundamental inability to regulate duck shooting effectively. We report these violations and the damage caused by duck shooters directly to the relevant authorities, departments, ministers, First Peoples’ groups, and community organisations so that it doesn’t go unseen or unchallenged. Our motto is: “Everyone knows that everyone knows.” But now, I need your help to keep going.
Why I’m Asking for Support
My old Suzuki Jimny finally broke down — the gearbox is gone. I managed to pick up a Nissan Pathfinder at a car auction for just $909 (a lucky break!) but here in Victoria, roadworthy requirements are tough, and I need around $3,000 in repairs just to get it on the road.
On top of that, I had to cover the cost of gear and equipment for the field.
Unfortunately after a pretty heavy car accident last year I am still recovering and I’ve been unable to work, and the TAC income support I receive barely covers my monthly bills. But despite all that, I’ve been pouring my time, energy, and heart into protecting the wetlands and the wildlife, because the destruction and damage happening out there can’t wait.
What Your Donation Supports
- Getting the new car roadworthy and back in the field
- Covering fuel + basic costs for wetland monitoring trips
- Essential gear + equipment to document damage properly
- Paying a data analyst for the end of the season report.
- Helping keep this critical work alive until I can recover physically financially
Why It Matters
Every season, thousands of trees are cut for firewood by shooters. Threatened wildlife is illegally shot. Sacred Aboriginal scarred trees are destroyed — often while authorities stand by with no staff or resources to respond.
If we’re not out there watching, no one is.
Your support, no matter how small, helps me stay on the frontlines and keep the pressure on to protect these irreplaceable landscapes.
Thank You!
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, supporting, sharing, or just cheering me on. It all matters, and I’m so grateful.
