Help Needed for TNR of Homeless Cat Colony

Donation protected
The Capstone Cares team has created this fundraiser for much-needed funds to spay/neuter and provide ongoing care for the Capstone Homeless Cat Colony.

Many of our employees have most likely seen a cute kitten or adult cat wandering around our grounds at the Van Nuys factory, they have taken up residence in the outdoors Common’s area. To date, we have seven 6-7 month-old kittens and six adult cats, and we would like to help this colony NOT grow any larger in quantity.

As Capstone is made up of not only a diverse, talented, and caring employee base that is committed to making a difference for our planet by offering world-class Green Energy solutions, we also pride ourselves in giving back to our local community and various charities to help make the world a better place for all.

We are an organization that cares about improving the lives of others... including our four-legged friends.

In recent months, a few animal loving employees here at Capstone corporate has been caring for the cat colony and have been fortunate enough to get assistance from a couple of local Non-Profit organizations called FixNation (www.fixnation.org) and Pink Paws Rescue (www.pinkpawsrescueandadoption.org) that will be providing us professional trappers to assist us with capturing the cats and overseeing their transport to and from the vets. FixNation and Pink Paws are wonderful groups that their mission is to reduce the population of homeless cats by sterilizing as many as possible while demonstrating the effectiveness of “TNR” or TRAP-NEUTER-RETURN and colony management for the humane care of homeless cats. (FixNation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit - TAX ID 83-0452460 and Pink Paws is 501(c)(3) organization- EIN 68-0675638)

A little bit of info on homeless cats…One unspayed female cat and its offspring can give birth to over 100 kittens a year creating a huge community overpopulation problem. Many of these cats will never know human love and will unfortunately fall victim to illness, hunger, abuse, and often death.

Beginning the week of October 4th professional trappers begun to humanely trap some of our resident kittens and cats for TNR. The process is trapping the cat/kitten, transporting them to a vet, performing the medical procedure and be given vaccines, flea medication, and receive general veterinarian care, and then bringing them back and releasing them 1-2 days afterward. Females will stay with FixNation/Pink Paws one extra day for recovery. To date, we have successfully TNR'd three of the male cats, and as we have approximately 13 cats at this time - this will take several weeks to accomplish with the remaining ten.

As FixNation and Pink Paws are nonprofit organizations, they have asked for donations to be made to their organization for their services. We are hoping to raise funds for a collective donation to the nonprofit for their assistance, medical expenses which include veterinarian procedures, medicines, and antibiotics. In addition to the non-profit organization's donations, we are hoping to raise enough funds to provide ongoing care for the colony.  Your generous donation would be greatly appreciated and any amount big or small will help.

Additionally, If you have any questions or would like to help us in the ongoing care of the cats such as help with feeding, donating food, medicine, or shelter for the cats here, or if you would like to open up your heart and your home by adopting one of the homeless kittens for your own, please reach out to the Capstone Cares Club or contact Mia, Kim or Leah directly.

On behalf of the Capstone Cares Team and The Homeless Cat Colony, we would like to thank you in advance for any help and support.
