My name is Jenny Fitch, the daughter of Roger and Debbie Harding. They were on vacation in McCall Idaho for their 55th wedding anniversary. While heading to Boise on September 22nd an oncoming driver pulled into their lane to pass and hit them head on. They were transported to the local hospital and then transferred to a larger hospital in Meridian due to injury severity.

They are both alive and doing remarkably well considering what happened. Roger’s spine was actually severed from his pelvis but was surgically reattached and should fully recover. He also has a fractured sternum and a shattered heel. He is having surgery today, 9/28, to rebuild the heel. Debbie has a broken right hand, significant thumb laceration, fractured sternum, a non displaced fracture of her tibia and fibula, and they just found an ankle fracture in her other foot (so both of her feet are in a boot now).

They are currently still in Meridian and the plan is they will both go to inpatient rehab and then will be coming to live with us in Spokane for an extended period.

It is typically not in our nature to ask for anything, but this situation is extreme and overwhelming. We know there will be myriad transportation costs, medical equipment needed, lodging expenses (since they won’t get out of rehab at the same time), and lots of things we haven’t even considered yet. Once they are a little more stable they’ll transition back home where I will continue to provide care until they are mobile again.

We know that times are tough for many right now and if all you can provide is well wishes and prayers, we understand. Thank you, we know they are loved by so many.
