Headed to Chattanooga for an HR search.

One of the hardest things I’ve had to do is ask for help because I’m more comfortable being the one helping others — but this one is beyond my capabilities so I’m humbly asking for help for Willow. As most of you know Willow retired from SAR (Search and Rescue) work and HRD (Human Remains Detection) after undergoing surgery in May for a herniated disk. She recovered from it beautifully, but unfortunately during the recovery process she put so much strain on her right leg from compensating that she tore her ligament in her knee (CCL).

After everything she’s done as a SAR K9 — the years of searches and training and public demonstrations and events — I owe it to her to give her quality of life. She’s been through searches involving floods, tornados, and countless searches trying to bring closure for families missing their loved ones.

She’s had an amazing and adventurous life and loves all people and animals and LOVED what she did. I just want her to be able to enjoy her remaining years going on walks, enjoying her furry friends, kids, and adults in the neighborhood again without pain. She's a very young and normally active 8 year old who still has many years left to enjoy her retirement.

I don’t have the means to cover the cost of the surgery, consults, x-rays, medications, and physical therapy after the surgery. If you could find it in your heart to help in any way as well as sharing the post with your family and friends, I’m hopeful we’ll be able to raise enough before winter gets here so she will be able to recover in comfortable weather. No amount is too small so for any support offered, I’ll be deeply grateful and I know Willow will be also, thank you so much! Brenda

I’ve added a few photos from some of her highlights and special moments in her career.
