Help Our Father's Battle Stage 5 Kidney Disease

Dear Friends, Family, and Colleagues,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Vatrice Williams, and I'm reaching out to you today on behalf of my parents, Robert and Vamekie Williams. Our family is facing a challenging situation, and we are seeking your support and kindness during this difficult time.

My father, Robert, has been bravely battling Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), a rare condition that gradually leads to kidney failure. Over the past two years, he has been undergoing dialysis treatments and, with the unwavering support of my mother, Vamekie, he has been doing his best to cope with this debilitating illness. However, this journey has taken a significant toll on both of them.

PKD is a rare disease, and as a result, insurance coverage is limited, leaving our family burdened with a mountain of medical bills. Unfortunately, due to his deteriorating health, my father is no longer able to work, which has placed the entire financial responsibility on my mother, who also dedicates her time to assisting him with dialysis 3-4 times a week.

We are grateful that my father is in the process of seeking assistance from The United Network for Organ Sharing and Organ Procurement Transplant Network at Atrium Health Transplant Center in Charlotte, NC. However, because of the frequent travel between Charlotte, NC and Charleston, SC, coupled with the lengthy and intricate procedures involved, the process is taking longer than we initially expected, which is adding to the stress in our already challenging family situation.

My siblings and I do our best to support our parents, but there is only so much we can do. That's why we have created this GoFundMe campaign, as a last resort to seek your help. The growing number of doctor's appointments and necessary surgeries have resulted in a financial burden that our parents are struggling to manage. We are turning to our community, friends, and colleagues, with humble hearts, to kindly ask for your support in contributing to our GoFundMe campaign.
