Help Needed for Baby Filly

Donation protected
This Fundraiser is for a brand-new baby! She was born early on July 6 but wasn’t found until noon. The problem was that the owners Ryan and Jordan Hadas had no idea that Scout, their mare, was even pregnant! There is a good possibility that Scout delivered a “Red Bag” foal because she had been out on pasture. I will explain “Red Bag” at the end of this post. Unfortunately, Scout nor the filly were ready for the “Big Day”. Scout has zero maternal instincts or a bag filled with life-saving “Gold” for Baby Filly. That “Gold” is colostrum and is very needed for survival.
I happened to work for their Vet and went on the call with her. We spent about 3 hours working on getting her stabilized. She was given Colostrum IV and was tube fed with goat’s milk to get a meal in her. Unfortunately, she wasn’t strong enough to take a bottle. We got her warmed up, and a bit more spunk to her, but her sucking reflexes are still not strong. Since her mom isn’t making any milk and she is not properly taking the bottle, the only option to save her is to get her to a university. This is NOT a cheap venture, but I would hope if you have read this far, you too are an animal lover and believe they are all worth a chance.
As I type this, Ryan, Jordan and Baby Filly are on their way to UGA in Athens, GA. The thought of her being euthanized at this point was not an option. She has a long way to go, and if she is going to make it, UGA will be her only chance.
This is not an expense that Ryan and Jordan can handle alone. They are parents to two boys, one of which is only a couple of months old! I told them that we could do this and promised to raise the money to have Baby Filly evaluated at the very least. Hopefully, we will get good news, and she will be a fighter. If everyone reading this could donate even $10, we can do this!!! Please help me help them.
I am putting a $5000 goal for right now. If she does well and thrives, it could go up, but for now, we are trying to cover at least a few days to give her time to gain strength. PLEASE find it in your heart to hit the donate button. You can never go wrong helping a creature in need. Especially one as beautiful as Baby Filly
What causes red bag during pregnancy?
• The most common causes of red bag are placental infections, fescue toxicity and stress. Chronic placental separation from the uterus may occur over a period of several days or weeks during late gestation as a consequence of placentitis.
• “Red bag delivery” is a layperson’s term for premature separation of the placenta prior to or during a mare’s foaling. Fortunately, it is an infrequent occurrence in healthy foaling mares. However, when it does occur, prompt action is required to prevent a stillborn or weak foal.
