A year ago, I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting Jerry and Sandra Martin.
Due to my occupation, I have seen them a minimum of three times a week, for the past year. We started this running joke between us; that we were long lost family members due to their last name- Martin, which was my last name at birth. Neither of us have family local here, so we sort of just made our own family within each other.
They are a beautiful elderly couple- some of the kindest people you will ever meet. Mr. Jerry loves his wife very much and takes excellent care of her. He is a retired veteran, and Mrs. Sandi is unfortunately, wheelchair bound, and they live on a very limited income.
Their budget is so tight, they must go to a food bank every month and have to complete surveys for pennies on the dollar, just to buy food, in between the food bank donations. Despite their own struggles, they still wake up every day with a grateful heart and do for others whenever they can, including providing transportation to a lady in Shreveport they recently met and has started chemo. Mrs. Sandi also has a lot of medical needs, but their vehicle needs extensive repairs and is nearly inoperable.
Your donations will help provide them with the necessary money needed for vehicle repairs, groceries, and moving cost. I recently found out that Ms. Sandi can’t even get into their apartment shower. They were told prior to moving there that the apartment was up to ADA regulations, but it is not.
Thank you for your donations and for taking the time to read our story.
