Unfortunately, after 7 years of marriage, I’ve been going through a traumatic and difficult time and separation with my husband. The separation has come as a complete shock, and happened a week after we moved into a new house together. He is no longer in the country and his sudden departure has left me to shoulder the financial burdens of this new home alone, without any additional income as our studio/business has not been re-established since the move.

Having just moved into this new home at the end of September, it has been a financially and mentally stressful move and the rental landscape in Melbourne lately has been quite hostile (expensive).

Last week it came to my attention that the rent was in arrears and I need to immediately come up with the remaining $1300 to avoid an eviction notice by Nov 12th. I can’t afford the financial penalties I would incur in breaking the lease. The real estate has not been communicative or co-operative in helping me find replacement tenants, and only sought to notify me of the rent in arrears when I had only 6 days until they issue a notice to vacate.

I have an appointment with tenants Vic for legal counsel next week. However I need to come up with the portion of rent that has not been paid by Nov 12th, and assistance with helping cover the following months rental shortfall of $1300, The total amount needed is $2600. This support would ensure I can keep a roof over my head and give me extra time to find housemates, set up my studio again and start working.

I’ve been working hard to navigate the circumstances I've been dealt, but the last few months has been an incredibly stressful time, balancing moving a house and business, having that business close, having to tend to family in hospital and the pain of this marital breakdown that has absolutely shaken me. Any financial help you’d be able to offer would make a big impact on my mental health at this time and material reality. Allowing me time to rebuild and come to grips with these dramatic life changes.

For those who know me, I’ve hosted and housed many people over the years, and never asked back. This time I’m in a position where there are no other options. Please help me in any way you can, so that I can move forward without risking financial ruin, falling into debt and becoming homeless. I am determined to rebuild my life after this and the vibrant community that the Scorp facilitated.
