NC State Club Golf is a student-run and student-led club sports organization at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. As defending National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA) National Champions, we have an automatic invite back to this year's national championship in Albuquerque, New Mexico. However, unlike our competing schools, NC State does not provide us with any funding. This responsibility, as a result, falls entirely onto the members of our club team. Last year's national championship cost each team member an average of $1500 out-of-pocket between tournament fees, travel expenses, lodging, and food. With all of our club golf members being busy full-time students at one of the nation's top-ranked STEM schools, often balancing part-time work with academic responsibilities, the cost of these tournaments is often an unfortunate barrier to participation.
Furthermore, our team has a deep enough pool of talent that we are attempting to qualify a second eight-person team to this year's national championship. The tournament is at the end of April, and though the opportunity to qualify a second team is a rare one, it places an even greater financial burden on our club. All of this to say: we believe our team wholeheartedly embodies the NCCGA's motto of "Live Life, Play Golf." We simply need some generous support in order to successfully defend our title in New Mexico and overcome the disadvantage - a lack of direct university funding - that we are facing compared to our competitors.
Any donation, large or small, helps. Thank you in advance for your support!
