Hi my name is Akira and I'm here trying to get help for one of my very good friends Nayeli. 2020 was already an extremely rough year for everyone but then 2021 took an unexpected turn for the worst for her. After being in and out of the hospital at the end of 2020 for head pain and chronic coughing Nayeli was misdiagnosed with an unrelated illness. In the beginning of 2021 she returned to the hospital once again in pain and this time she found out the pain was due to early stages of leukemia. She immediately left work and began to undergo chemotherapy to treat her cancer which has been a success so far! Her job has been great and allowed her to take FMLA and has been covering most of her costs. Unfortunately this past week she discovered that some of those benefits will now run out after next week and so will her medical insurance. We're asking for help to get her through the final stretches of her treatment. The last thing she needs is to be drowning in medical debt and falling behind because her earlier doctors weren't vigilant in making sure she was being diagnosed correctly (they found the cancer through simple blood work). We're starting at $10k which will mostly cover the cost of medication which is the main priority. Anything and everything helps!
