See that man on the right side, that’s my uncle Sean. I am starting this GoFundMe on his behalf because I know he would never ask for help. That young man on the right, that’s his son Austin.
My uncle Sean is a Navy veteran and was a Seabee during Desert Storm. The military prepares you for a lot and builds you up to be strong. Sadly they don’t prepare you for the battle of your life, literally. For over a year my uncle has been battling with end stage kidney failure. He was diagnosed in February of 2024. However we believe he was in kidney failure well before that and was misdiagnosed. That’s a different story and battle for another day.
As you can imagine kidney failure makes his immune system extremely compromised. He is unable to work because of that. Not to mention kidney failure also puts a heavy toll on your body. We have been tirelessly trying to get him on disability or some type of VA disability benefits. That has not been an easy feat. Unfortunately he does not have ANY income of ANY kind coming to him. My 80yr old grandmother is who carries the financial burden.
Recently our oh so lovely court system and his wonderful EX-wife (read that portion with heavy sarcasm) have decided they need to go after him for unpaid child support. He was paying at one point but because of having no income he can no longer make payments. He still owes roughly $60k in back child support. The courts do not care that he is dying and that he is unable to work and trying to sign up for disability. They want to send him to jail, where he most certainly will not survive. Let’s be honest jail/prison they do not care about your wellbeing, no matter what your charge is. That’s essentially signing his death warrant. I know that may sound dramatic but sadly it’s the truth.
Finally to why we are here, to raise $6k for court costs, gas to get to court, parking fees, and possibly a small payment towards what he owes. Now you may ask why are you only asking for $6k when he owes nearly $60k? Well that’s because I wanted to start small. I would love it SO much if we really could raise $60k to completely take this burden away from him. I also know that it’s rough for a lot of people these days too. He has a court date coming up very soon. We hope we can make a small payment towards the amount he owes. Maybe this can at least buy us some time to look into how we can resolve this issue, for good!
If you’ve made it this far and have read through all of this, thank you! Sincerely and truly thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If you can donate there are not enough words to show our gratitude. If you can’t donate that is fine too, a simple share of this GoFundMe also helps immensely. We love and appreciate you all! ❤️ Thank you again for however you may be able to help.
