Help Navy Veteran Save His Home and Fight Cancer

Donation protected
Lewis Terrell Farmer is a son, brother, father to three sons ages 18, 7, and 4 years old, a dedicated worker, and U.S. Navy veteran who has never slowed down. Even when he noticed constant fatigue and pain he powered through these signs and symptoms and kept working moving forward.

By February 2021, the pain was unavoidable and he received the news: the pain was caused by aggressive stage 4 prostate cancer. His doctors wanted to do radical treatment that at 47 years old offered options that were not available for most men at that age. He decided the way he would fight the cancer was through hormone injections, chemo, and radiation. Thanks to this treatment he has survived over 3 years with this cancer, but there is still more fighting ahead.

On October 21, 2024, he lost his ability to walk. As his sister, I put my brother on my back to carry him downstairs so we could transport him to the hospital. Lewis was unable to use his legs due to the pain severity and what was later found to be the cancer wrapping around the spinal cord in his lower back. It was determined to be aggressive and the doctors, surgeons, and palliative care team all decided that the best treatment was to go in and have surgery to remove the rapid tumor growth. His surgery was successful, and he immediately was able to have movement in his toes and lift his legs a little. He currently requires physical therapy and occupational therapy to be able to walk and regain his strength for daily activities again. But he may never have full mobility due to the spinal cord damage caused by the cancer.

Through the treatment battle, Lewis has faced financial hardship and now risks losing his home. We are trying to help him save his home. We have exhausted all resources for help (VA housing vouchers, social services benefits, HUD housing...name it we have sought assistance.) Lewis is on disability but it's not enough to prevent foreclosure. He's still in the hospital receiving treatment. The next step in his care is radium.

On behalf of Lewis, as his sister, we are asking for your financial help. Every dollar donated will be used to cover overdue bills, so he doesn't lose his home. In desperation to prevent homelessness so Lewis can continue cancer treatment, we are asking for donations no matter how small and prayers for his recovery! If you are able please share this with others that may be able to help. Thank you.
