Help Navy Veteran Jim DeFinis Heal and Thrive

Navy Veteran, Jim DeFinis has been on a kidney transplant list. Tuesday, November 12th, he got the call that a kidney was available in Chicago. He was expedited to Chicago and had the transplant that evening. Mark Callahan, his support person, arrived in Chicago on Thursday, November 14th. Together, they met with doctors regarding Jim's condition on Friday, November 15th. Jim will be discharged and released into Mark's care to the hotel tomorrow, 11/16. Mark is to have Jim report to the hospital every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for the next 30-45 days. They are left to their own financially, medically, and creatively to figure out meals, Jim's dietary restrictions, socialization, medication scheduling, activity, etc., in a one-bedroom hotel room.

During Jim’s recovery, he will be out of work and still has to maintain recovery expenses, rent, car payment and insurance, and utilities.
