Support Naty's fight against Hodgkins Lymphoma

This is a fundraiser to support the Lorenzo family as their 16yr old daughter, Natalia fights Hodgkin's Lymphoma

Funds will be used for medical bills

Our community was shaken when we learned our dear friends daughter was diagnosed with cancer just 8 days after her 16th birthday. Now, she and her family are the ones who need support, and it's our turn to surround them with love and the funds they need to navigate the challenging year ahead of them.

On September 9, 2024 my friend Renee sat in the ER of Lurie Children's Hospital Winfield at CDH as a doctor shared that the MRI they had done on her daughter Natallia or Naty as friends call her, revealed several tumors. They then showed us the multiple tumors they found in chest, armpit, neck and throat.

The next morning the family met with the oncologist and he confirmed it was lymphoma. They spent the next week meeting with doctors living in the hospital, supporting Natalia who worked tirelessly combat some of the side effects of the cancer. We waited to hear the result of the biopsy to know which form of Lymphoma we were dealing with. The pathology reports came back that is was Hodgekins and will require 6 mo of treatment to start.

What's Next

As the CDH team began our start with chemo it's been a challenging process as day by day things change.. The family is optimistic, but ensuring that Naty has a beautiful and healthy future requires acting quickly and with aggressive treatment.

While they are grateful to have the ability to receive the best care in the world, the logistics of doing so are complicated. Renee will have to retire early in order to help care for Naty she undergoes proton radiation and chemotherapy.

For the next few months Renee and Naty will switch off staying back and forth in and out of the hospital .

They will do whatever it takes to get Naty the best possible care, but this means not being able to work or be there for boys at home all the time.

Natallia who has always brightened our lives with her smile and spirit, is now showing incredible courage through treatments and hospital visits. Naty is on round 4 of chemo, and it's taking a toll on not only her but her family. Her mom hasn't left her side, which is a struggle with other children in the house. Her mom is trying to balance not only time off work but still being able to get the boys to school, feed them, and keep up with housekeeping. The whole family is stepping up and taking on more responsibilities to help, and the neighbors have been a huge help getting the boys to school.

As a close family friend, I'm reaching out to ask for help in raising $5,000 to assist with the mounting medical expenses, including medications, hospital visits, and specialized care. This family has always been there for others in their time of need, and now they need our support more than ever. Every donation, no matter how small, will help give this brave young girl the fighting chance she deserves. Future Medical Expenses for Naty,

There are many needs outside of the treatment needed to ensure Naty has the best chances of beating this cancer. She will need regular scans every 3 months for years, and after that will need scans every 6 months for decades. There are many side effects to aggressive radiation and chemotherapy that the Lorenzo family have to consider and reserve funds for in order to ensure Naty can have the life and family she desires in the future.

Life Insurance

Once you've had cancer, the cost of getting life insurance as an adult is much higher. The Lorenzo's are planning to put any funds raised that exceed their out-of-pocket expenses into a savings account that offers Naty the ability to protect her future.

Changes in career for the Lorenzo family include Renee Retiring early has repercussions for the family financially, and we are raising money to ensure that during a scary time they don't have to think about lost income and can focus all of their energy on supporting Naty in the ways they need.

Meals, housecleaning, and babysitting

When you're focused on helping a child heal, the last thing you want to think about is meal prep or deep cleaning. While at home in Waterman, the Lorenzo's want to order meals rather than cook, to spend time with Naty and the boys rather than deep cleaning the house or cooking.
