Hi, my name is Andrew and I am fundraising for my friend Natty. I met Natty in 2018 on my first visit to Chiang Mai Thailand at a restaurant she was working at. Natty showed me around Chiang Mai and we became good friends. At the time, Natty owned and ran her own beauty parlour and was paying a mortgage on her house in Chiang Mai.
Two years ago, Natty had a scooter accident riding from her work to home. She was left with a fractured skull, the loss of use of both her legs and most of her right arm. As a result of the accident, her business closed and the bank foreclosed on her house as she could no longer afford to pay her mortgage, let alone her hospital bills. She sold her car to cover some of the hospital costs and to this day, she is only able to sporadically pay for her required medication.
Natty now lives in a tiny house in her mother’s remote village about 65kms outside Chiang Mai. She is confined to a borrowed old hospital bed. There is no air-conditioning to keep cool in summer and whilst I was there visiting her, the inside temperature was about 35 degrees. There is also no heating and the area is cold during the winter season.
Natty shares this small house with her mother who is also in poor health and uses a walker. Natty has two sons. Her 11 year old lives with them and helps as much as he can. However, her 15 year old son is being raised by monks as Natty is unable to financially support both boys.
There is no government social support in Thailand and Natty only has the support from her son and mother. I am trying to raise funds to help Natty and her family to have a better life which she deserves. The funds raised for Natty will allow her to pay for her medication and purchase a motorised wheelchair so she can be mobile. Natty also requires a stable ramp at the front of her home so she can access the outside world. Her bathroom also requires renovating so she can access her toilet and shower without assistance. It is also Natty's dream to establish a vegetable and fruit stall at the front of her house to enable her to earn some money to support herself, her son and mother. Donations will also help her to set up the stall and buy the initial product to sell.
Thank you for taking the time to read about Natty. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will support Natty and her family.
