Help Nathan's Family During Heart Transplant Recovery

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jeovanni and I am starting this fundraiser for my Brother in-law, Nathan and his family (wife Yanelyz and two daughters). Back in January, Nathan started to not feel well and after many trips to the hospital, it became evident that Nathan's heart was not functioning properly. After various different treatments, the local hospitals determined that Nathan was suffering from cardiac sarcoidosis but before being able to start treatment, Nathan landed back in the hospital, this time at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville for three weeks. When doctors finally told them that Nathan's heart had suffered too much damage and was in cardiac burnout, Nathan was told that he would need a heart transplant! Because of Nathan's religious beliefs as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, he would only be able to have the heart transplant performed through a special bloodless procedure that is offered at University of Chicago Hospital. After arrangements were made, Nathan and his wife Yanelyz were flown to the University of Chicago Hospital to be evaluated for a transplant while having to leave their daughters in Florida with family. After further evaluation and testing from the doctors in Chicago, Nathan was deemed a candidate for a heart transplant. Shortly after being put on the transplant list, we are happy to say that Nathan was able to receive a heart from a donor and had a successful transplant on Sunday, August 4th, 2024. Thanks to Dr. Jeevanadam, his team, and brothers from the HLC from the Jehovah's Witness Organization.

The reason I am starting this fundraiser for Nathan and his family, is because up until the day that Nathan walked into the emergency room back in January 2024, he was a hardworking young man that worked in the HVAC field to provide for his family and for at least the next year he won't be able to work. Also, Nathan's wife Yanelyz, my sister, was working at a local hospital but had no choice but to resign to be by her husband's side during this difficult time. Because of the transplant, Nathan must remain in Chicago for at least a year post-op for his hospital stay and follow-up visits and treatments. Your donations will go towards housing and cost of living while he and his family remain in Chicago for his recuperation. Our family greatly appreciates anything that you may have to spare, no donation is too small. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your help in this difficult time.
