Nathaniel’s story about his challenging journey to becoming a medical doctor in order to serve his rural community of Ejura-Sekyedumasi Municipal in the Asante Region of Ghana, came to my attention through my friend and ardent advocate of the bright but underprivileged, Seidu Baaba on LinkedIn.
His story is one that has moved me to action. I have set up this fundraiser on his behalf so that he does not miss out on taking up his rightful place at the prestigious University of Cape Coast Ghana (UCCG) Medical School for his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery course for a second time! UCCG was ranked in the Times Higher Education list 2022 in the top 350 universities in the world and number 1 out of 138 new entrant universities in The World University Rankings 2022. It has one of the finest Medical Schools on the continent of Africa.
For the avoidance of doubt, I have the express permission of Nathaniel in setting up this fund and all net proceeds received will be made available for his cause only. All background checks have been conducted and cleared.
This fundraising is first and foremost, to assist Nathaniel meet his deadline of 28 October 2021 to pay the equivalent of $2,200.00, that being his first year tuition fees. The ultimate target of £15,000.00 is to enable him fund the entirety of this six-year course.

Here is Nathaniel's story and humble plea in his own words. I hope it will motivate you to assist him in achieving his dream.
"I attended Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School, from 2013 -2016 after completing my basic school education at Ejura Model Basic School in the Ejura-Sekyedumasi Municipal, emerging as the best student in the municipal. I had a particular interest in the core sciences as my life-long dream has been to qualify as a medical doctor and hopefully become a neurosurgeon. Having attained the prerequisite grade to medical school, aggregate 9, in my West African Senior School Certificate Examination, my family could not afford to even purchase the application form for university let alone pay the required processing fee. As a result ,I could not proceed to university in 2016. I managed to apply for a place on the medical programme and gained admission to UCCG Medical School for the 2017 academic year. However I could not take my place because my parents were not in a position to support me financially.
I decided to take up a job as a teacher in a primary school in order to save some money for my university education in the near future. However, I ended up using my little earnings to support my younger brother in Senior High School. My dream of becoming a doctor appeared to be slipping away from me with no hope in sight. Nevertheless, this year, I applied again to study medicine at UCCG Medical School and have been offered a place on the 2021 academic year as a fee paying student. My family's financial position has not changed since 2016, if not worsened. They cannot afford to make my dream to come true. Please see my attached offer letter.
I hope you can assist me to raise my tuition fee by the deadline of 28 October 2021."
