Hi, my name is Nathan Noel. I am 4 years old and in Junior Kindergarten. I live in Mississauga with my Mommy, Daddy and two older sisters, Naleah and Shonna. I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder
in December 2020. My family has been working really hard to make sure I get all the support and therapies that I need to help me grow and learn! I love to play basketball and jump on my trampoline! I LOVE to watch Blippi, Elmo and Cookie Monster. My favorite movie is Aladdin, the Genie is the BEST! My uncle Jeff Shattler plays professional lacrosse (NLL Sask Rush) and I love to watch and wear the Rush jersey.
Nathan’s Typical costs for therapy (Intensive Behavioral Intervention (IBI) Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy) is $500 for 8 hours a week accumulates to over $41,000 a year.
What it is helping with:
I am working on self-regulation and social skills. I am always listening and can sense when people are frustrated with me. I do not have strong verbal skills, but I communicate the best I can. I do not understand the world around me like other people do and I need more time to process things. I sometimes make noises that could be distracting but that’s only because I’m excited. I play very shy initially and sometimes need time to get comfortable in new spaces. I can be a very messy eater, but I’ll finish whatever is in front of me.
I want to be accepted for who I am and to use my strengths to help me grow and learn. I don’t want to fit in, but I want to be included. I want people to see my abilities and help me reach my goals.
Thank you for taking the time to hear a little bit about me and thank you for your support.
