My name is Nathan, and I am reaching out because I am facing a very difficult time in my life. I have been diagnosed with Long Covid, POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS), along with other symptoms that doctors are still working to understand. These conditions have left me completely disabled, and I am currently working with an attorney to secure the disability benefits I paid into during my years of work.
Despite my best efforts to make ends meet without asking for more help, many of my medical bills are now in collections, and I receive collection calls every day. The stress of these calls and the mounting debt has made it clear that there is just no way for us to handle this burden without some help. Right now, I am struggling to keep up with basic bills like my phone, medical expenses, car insurance, health insurance, and the medications I need to manage my symptoms. I have referrals to specialists who may be able to help, but they are all more than two hours away. Our car is barely running, so we need to make repairs and have enough gas money to get to these important appointments. There are also expensive genetic and other medical tests that I need to move forward with my care.
Support from this fundraiser would allow me to afford the specialist care that could be life-changing. It would help me get to the appointments that make a real difference in my pain and symptoms, and it would relieve the constant stress of worrying about how to pay for insurance, gas, and other essentials. My husband and I have always tried to help our community and support those in need, but right now, we are the ones who need help. We both have long covid and share many of the same symptoms. Joey is still able to go to school and is working hard to train for a new remote job, since he can no longer do mechanic work. Any amount of assistance would truly benefit us and help us have a better quality of life. Thank you for considering supporting us during this challenging time.
