Nathan's home is Toxic
Spende geschützt
In 2011 my wife Nadine and I got our first house together. We were so happy that we had a home to call our own. The first few years were so amazing. However, when we had a few years of basement flooding, we thought we knew what to do and how to fix it. Get it dry, keep it dry and there would be no problems. It wasn't too long after that I started to get sick. Small things at first, headaches, being tired, I thought I was just getting older and that's just how it was.
Then things started getting worse. I started getting headaches, chronic fatigue, joint pain, the feeling of bug bites all over my skin without any marks, dizziness, and brain fog, and my depression and anxiety got much worse. My job performance started to suffer. After several tests and doctor appointments, I was diagnosed with C.I.R.S. (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome) https://carolinaholisticmedicine.com/chronic-inflammatory-response-syndrome/ . After looking into it, and having some environmental tests of our home, it was found that we have water mold, called Ochratoxin A, from the flooding in our basement, and that was what was making me so sick.
That was a year ago.
I have gone through a few treatments to clear it up, but while the mold is still there, I won't make any lasting progress. We need to remove the mold. The people we need to get in to fix this are expensive and will leave the basement torn apart, so we'll need to have the basement rebuilt. Nadine is on disability with Lupus, and I am also going on disability because I can't work due to this illness. We can't afford this without help.
The sooner we have the mold removed and the basement rebuilt, the sooner I can finally get better. The longer the mold is in our home the worse my illness will become. We need some help here.
Thank you, everyone.
***UPDATE***
After all of the generous donations from so many of you, we have managed to GET THE MOLD OUT OF THE BASEMENT!!
Thank you all SO MUCH!! It has meant so much to us that you have all helped out when we needed it the most. And now the work to rebuild and make the space usable begins. And that is going to take some doing.
The framing needs to be replaced, and new insulation put in.

The electrical is embarrassingly out of date.

And new drywall needs to be installed.

In short... it ALL needs to be redone. So that is why I am reaching out again. On our fixed income, we can't handle this alone. I know that these are hard times financially for everyone right now, so if all you can do is pass this around, that will help a lot.
Once the basement is done, we can post photos so you can all see what you helped do for us.
Thank you all again for your help!
