02/2026 updated
On February 5, 2026, I purchased a vehicle from a local seller for $3,000. I was told it was in working condition and wasn’t informed of any major mechanical or safety issues.
Almost immediately after buying it, I discovered serious problems: a broken odometer, engine misfires, leaking head gasket, failing catalytic converter, faulty water pump, ABS issues, heater core leaks, and more. These weren’t small fixes—they were pre-existing failures that made the car unsafe and undriveable.
I tried contacting the seller multiple times and through multiple methods, but I was ignored and even blocked. These defects have left me without reliable transportation, causing financial strain and threatening my ability to continue my work as a local EMT.
I’m sharing this story because I need help covering repairs or securing a safe, reliable vehicle so I can continue serving my community. Every contribution makes a difference, and I deeply appreciate any support.
Hi, my name is Nate!
Asking for help like this isn’t easy for me, but I believe honesty and transparency matter—especially when people are kind enough to consider supporting someone they may not even know.
I’m a 20-year-old EMT working in Grayson County. I didn’t start where I am now. I began with my ambulance company as a van operator, taking on long hours and behind-the-scenes work to prove myself. I showed up consistently, worked my way through the ranks, and on December 30, 2025, I officially passed my National Registry of EMTs (NREMT)—a milestone I’m incredibly proud of because it represents real effort, discipline, and growth.
I chose emergency medical services because I genuinely care about people. When someone calls 911, it’s often one of the worst days of their life, and I take seriously the responsibility of being someone they can rely on. EMS doesn’t come with a high paycheck, but it comes with purpose—and that purpose keeps me pushing forward.
After a long period of housing instability, I recently secured my first apartment. That step alone meant everything to me. It was proof that the hard work I’ve been putting in is starting to pay off. But when you’re living paycheck to paycheck, stability can be fragile. Right now, the biggest thing threatening that stability is transportation.
My current vehicle is old and unreliable. As an EMT, dependable transportation isn’t optional—it’s essential. Missing shifts or dealing with breakdowns puts my job at risk, and I don’t have the financial cushion to absorb major repairs or replace a vehicle on my own.
I’m also a father, and my son is my greatest motivation. Everything I do—working my way up in EMS, securing housing, pushing through exhaustion—is for him. I want to be present, dependable, and stable in his life.
I’m seeking help to purchase a retired police vehicle, and I’ve chosen this option very intentionally. These vehicles are fleet-managed, maintained on strict service schedules, and built for durability and long hours of operation. For someone in my position, a well-maintained former fleet vehicle offers the most practical, reliable, and responsible solution.
Beyond basic reliability, this type of vehicle would allow me to create additional income opportunities. With dependable transportation, I’d be able to take on side work such as medical standbys, event jobs, and emergency jobs (EJs), and eventually work toward starting a small roadside assistance business. That additional income would help me stay afloat, build savings, and rely less on assistance in the future.
The vehicle would also significantly improve day-to-day life. Many retired police vehicles include rear cages, which would make traveling safely with my dogs much easier. The ability to safely idle for extended periods—something these vehicles are designed to do—adds another layer of practicality and safety.
I’m not asking for luxury. I’m not asking for anything excessive. I’m asking for help securing a dependable, work-capable vehicle that allows me to continue serving my community, expand my earning opportunities, maintain the stability I’ve fought hard to build, and be there for my son.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward purchasing a reliable retired fleet vehicle and covering essential costs to get it safely on the road. If I’m fortunate enough to raise more than needed, any additional funds will be reserved strictly for basic maintenance and transportation-related expenses.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser or offering words of encouragement still means more than I can express.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. If you choose to support me, you’re not just helping me—you’re helping me keep moving forward, keep working, and keep building a better future for my family.
