Help Nathan get Eustachian Tube Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Cheryl Holdaway and I am fundraising for my son, Nathan, to receive a Balloon Dilation of Eustachian Tube Surgery. Nathan is an Honour Roll Academic French Immersion Grade 10 student in Chatham Ontario at Chatham Kent Secondary School (CKSS). He excels at math, athletics and music. His surgeon calls him a "Mathelete". He is a running back for the Chatham Cougars Junior Varsity team and is working on his Grade 7 piano. Nathan has lived with less than 5% hearing in his right ear since he was a year old. He has suffered through 5 related surgeries so far including 3 tympanoplasties (ear drum replacement). We have been advised that the tympanoplasty surgery is not working because of the underlying issue with his eustachian tube. We are hoping that this surgery will cure the underlying issue so that a future tympanoplasty will heal his ear-drum. The Balloon Dilation surgery is relatively new and is therefore not covered under the Ontario Health Insurance Program (OHIP). Unfortunately, my benefits coverage will also not cover it. We are hoping to raise some or all of the surgery costs as quickly as possible. Dr. B. Rotenberg of St. Joseph's Health Care in London, Ontario had advised us that his waiting list would be 4-6 months however he now has an opening for Nathan on November 8, 2021. Nathan has asked for this surgery so that he can eventually have normal hearing for school, sports and music.
