Help Nathen fight ALS

They are about to embark in the fight of the unknown to help her Son Nathen who is 22. Lots of medical expenses, plane flight, research to try and fight and here is Nathan’s story

Nathen was born a healthy baby boy with 10 finger and 10 toes. He loved playing baseball, football, hanging with friends and playing video games. At the age of 15 we noticed that Nathen started tripping a lot and he didn’t make the high school baseball team as he had in years past. It was then that we began the long journey to what we now know is recessive gene ALS. It has taken 7 years, many doctor appointments plenty of invasive and noninvasive testing and an unthinkable amount of money to get to this point. What started in his right leg as weakness, loss of function and muscle atrophy continued to progress to his left leg with the same symptoms. Continuing on to the left hand and then right hand. Nathen has had to give up many things he loves including baseball, video games, he struggles with writing and drops things easily. Over the past 7 years Nathen has endured IVIG treatments every 2 weeks, physical therapy, special braces and stretching routines to try and slow the progression. However, 2 years ago The IVIg, medications and all attempts to slow the spread seemed to stop working. This is when we turned to Michigan Medicine and genetic testing began. The doctors were and still are stumped by his current test results and physical examinations. He does not fall into a typical ALS diagnosis and we are told only a handful of people have the gene mutation that Nathen has. Since there is currently no treatment for ALS and Nathen is rapidly declining, we have decided to try an unconventional treatment at Frontier physical medicine located in Fl. Here he will receive electrotherapy, proneurolight therapy, platelet rich plasma injections, pulse activation therapy and cyrotext regen injections all of which is not covered by insurance.
