Help Nathan Bishop Students Visit D.C.

Hello, My name is Rick Taylor. I am a History/Civics Teacher at Nathan Bishop in Providence, RI. This is our tenth year taking some of our 8th grade students on a civics field trip to Washington, D.C. through the non-profit, non-partisan Close Up Foundation.

Our school is diverse and we want that to be represented on our trip. Many of our students our economically disadvantaged and with a price tag of $1,660.00 per pupil, several of our best students will not be able to attend without your help. The cost of the trip includes airfare, hotel accommodations, food and an experiential civics opportunity in the heart of our capital.

We have embarked on an ambitious fundraising drive to ensure that this trip is inclusive and equitable. Every Friday morning, we hold a "Cougar Cafe” selling hot chocolate and safe baked goods. A school dance is planned for Valentine's Day and an exhaustive grant-writing initiative is under way.

We know our fundraising goal is ambitious, but with your help we can succeed and provide this opportunity for every student who wants to attend. If you believe that our children should see and interact with the institutions of government or alumni who benefited from a Close-Up trip to DONATE NOW to the Nathan Bishop Close-Up Fund.
