Help Nateisha Recover from Brutal Ex-Bf Attack

Nateisha Laws is a single mother of three in Harlem who I met through mutual aid group, Pandemic of Love, right before Christmas last year. Her refrigerator had broken and all their food was gone. We have kept in touch, she sends me pictures and stories of the kids, and I helped out when she lost both her mother and grandmother this past year.

 

This morning I woke up to a text that she had been brutally beaten by her ex, who she has had a restraining order against since 2019. He was given her address by a gov't office, and on Monday was waiting for her when she got off work. She has broken ribs, and is having oral surgery to try and save her front teeth today. She is in the hospital under police guard.

 

The son of her elderly neighbor, reached out looking for support from her phone faves. He was the emergency contact and was able to get the kids home from the hospital but they need groceries, her bills need paying, they need support with child care, and she will be unable to work for awhile.

 

He shared what a great mother she is and what an incredible member of the community she is in her building in Harlem -- not only taking care of people like his father, but finding him an interview outfit for the job he now holds, cutting and braiding hair for kids going back to school with confidence, and just generally being there for others, even though she has her own challenges.

 

I will help directly with filling the fridge immediately, and some weekend chid care, but if you can help us help them get through this period, Vern and I would be very grateful. Everything is appreciated.
