Hi, my name is Nate Durocher, and I’m 15 years old. In 2012, I was diagnosed with a rare, terminal condition called Giant Axonal Neuropathy (GAN). It's a progressive neurological disorder that slowly takes away mobility, coordination, vision, and eventually the ability to breathe. There’s no cure—just time, and the hope to make the most of it.
Right now, I’m attending school in Saskatoon, where my family moved so I could receive the specialized medical care I need. Unfortunately, as my condition has progressed, I now require 24-hour care. My dad had to leave his job to become my full-time caregiver, which has put a huge emotional and financial strain on our family.
My family has been incredibly strong, but we’re facing a heartbreaking reality: my condition is worsening.
That’s why we’re asking for your help.
This summer, before my mobility and vision decline further, I have one big dream: to travel to Florida and meet Jason Derulo, someone whose music has given me joy and energy throughout my journey.
Your support will go toward:
-Helping me make this once-in-a-lifetime trip while I’m still able to enjoy it
-Covering essential medical and living expenses for our family to remain in Saskatoon, where I receive life-supporting care
-Easing the financial burden on my dad, who continues to sacrifice everything to be by my side every moment
-Even a small donation can make a big difference. If you aren’t able to give, you can still help by sharing this campaign with your community, friends, and networks.
From the bottom of our hearts—thank you for helping me live life to the fullest and supporting the people who love me most.
With all our gratitude,
Nate and his dad James
