Help Nate Sobral stay at CSS for his Senior Year

Donation protected
For those of you who do not know me, my name is Tracey Eubanks Griffin. I have 3 children (ages 8, 13 and 17) and all of them have attended The Colorado Springs School for their academia. My oldest son is a rising Senior and has been at CSS since he was 4 years old and as such, CSS has had an enormous impact on our lives. We have seen many changes throughout the years, in the world, in the school and in the community. We have always felt that our friends at CSS are a second family. We have always tried to support our extended family in one way or another. It is now our turn to ask that our community rally around another extended family member.

Nate Sobral is a rising senior who enrolled at CSS for his Freshman year in August of 2020. His older brother Will Sobral is a CSS alumni, graduating in 2021. Nate Sobral has been an exemplary student, athlete and mentor while at CSS. He is the 2024 CSS Senior Class President and the 2024 Vice Presdient of the CSS Chapter of the National Honour Society.

Nate Sobral's family has experienced insurmountable financial obstacles that have made it nearly impossible for them to meet their financial obligaions to CSS. In order for Nate to continue onto his Senior year at CSS, he needs to meet these obligations, or he cannot reenroll.

Nate Sobral is an integral member of the CSS community. Nate has numerous letters of support from teachers, coaches, and fellow students that are too lengthy and numerous to share in this format but are readily available by request by using the "Contact" button on this fundraiser.

I cannot imagine a better way to support our CSS community other than directly supporting a student in need.

All money needs to be raised by June 13th in order to meet the required deadlines. The money raised will go directly to The Colorado Springs School.

Thank you in advance for your support.

A Letter from Nathan Sobral-

Dear Family and Friends,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to you today with a humble request for financial assistance towards my senior year tuition. As an aspiring student determined to pursue higher education, I find myself facing numerous obstacles that have significantly impacted my ability to meet the financial obligations required to continue my education.

Allow me to share a glimpse into my personal journey. Recently, my family and I faced the challenging reality of my parents’ divorce, which left a significant financial and mental burden on my siblings, my parents, and myself. As well as other stressing factors such as a loss of support from my father, we have been placed in a situation where we can no longer and haven’t been able to afford tuition for quite some time. As a result, I have witnessed many struggles and sacrifices my family has made to provide for my education, but unfortunately, circumstances beyond their control have made it increasingly difficult for them and myself to meet the ever-rising cost of tuition.

Moreover, our family experienced an unprecedented loss of income that has further exacerbated our financial situation. This sudden change in our circumstances has put an immense strain on our ability to make timely payments to the school. Despite our best efforts, my legally disabled mother’s limited resources and my own full time job have proven insufficient to cover the mounting expenses associated with my education. Accompanying these challenges, my mom faces major, daily health issues that have required ongoing medical attention, expenses, and time away from work. This combination of factors has made it seemingly impossible for us to bridge this financial gap.

However, despite these adversities, I strive to remain wholeheartedly committed to my education and deeply committed to my future. Over the course of my high school career, I have maintained a strong academic record, finishing off this year with a 4.33 grade point average. I strive to excel in my studies as well as extracurricular activities such as basketball where I believe I have contributed greatly to the growing success of the program. While juggling academics and life events or challenges, I try to find time to give back to my community. I managed to accumulate nearly 100 hours of community service this past academic year and plan on exceeding that number next year. My passion for learning and my desire to make a positive impact not only in the school but in the world, fuel my determination to overcome these obstacles and complete my senior year at The Colorado Springs School.

Teetering on the edge of being removed from the school for the past few years has allowed me to value my education more than most. The constant knowledge that I could possibly not return to CSS only served as a driving factor in my dedication to being the best student I could be. Recognizing the importance of a quality education and the transformative power it holds, I am reaching out to generous individuals and organizations in the hopes of securing financial support to ensure I can continue my studies without interruption. Your contribution, no matter the size, would make a significant difference in my life, empowering me to pursue my dreams and aspirations and achieve the education I wish to.

I kindly request your consideration and support in the form of a donation towards my senior year tuition. Your generosity will not only alleviate the financial burden faced by my trying family but also enable me to focus on my studies and participate fully in the opportunities available to me. Additionally, I am more than willing to provide any supplementary documentation, information, or references you may require to further evaluate my situation.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and for considering my request. I am genuinely grateful for any support you may be able to provide. Should you have any questions or require more information, please do not hesitate to contact me at your convenience. I eagerly look forward to discussing this matter further with you.

Sincerely,

Nathan Sobral
