www.facebook.com/helpnaterecuperate On September 13th, 2016, after a summer of pokes and prods to determine the cause of a mysterious back pain, 6 year-old Nate was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  The medical staff at McMaster Childrens Hospital were quick to respond to Nate's symptoms when he was brought into the emergency department, will full diagnosis coming in just over 24 hours after being admitted.  Since then Nate has  undergone several procedures, including insertion of a "port" for larger vein access, bone marrow tests and multiple lumbar punctures.  The various stages of chemotherapy have introduced a number of different treatments and medications throughout varying schedules.  Through all of this, Nate has endured all the ups and downs that are to be expected when being treated for cancer.  Although he may not fully comprehend the gravity of the situation, Nate has come to accept his new routine and the continuing difficult chemo treatments he will endure over the next two and half years.
A diagnosis of cancer is hard for any family, regardless of the age or relation of the diagnosee.  Nates family has been able to accomodate the constant monitoring and appointments through employment leaves and forgoing extra-curricular activities.  
Beyond the emotional and physical costs of this lenghtly treatment process, there are many financial burdens; such as regular travel to McMaster Childrens Hospital, lodging in inclement weather, medications and interrupted income.
Any monies raised for this family will continue to be used to care for Nate for his ongoing treatment over the remaining two and half years of cancer treatments.
