Nate Prater, our fearless and selfless leader of Street Car Braggin Rights, is facing major health concerns and mounting medical bills.

Nate is one of the most selfless people I know and has continually given 110% of himself and his finances to the racers, sponsors, and fans of SCBR for years, always showing up for others, and now he needs support.

About 12 years ago, Nate was diagnosed with diverticulitis, which led to repeated hospital stays a few times each year. Around 9 years ago, he had surgery to remove part of his intestines, but that surgery led to more complications and multiple additional surgeries, including having an ileostomy for a few months. Since then, he has dealt with multiple bowel obstructions that doctors believe are related to scar tissue from those surgeries.

This current obstruction has been the worst one so far. Doctors first placed an NG tube, and then performed a robot-assisted procedure to remove scar tissue, successfully removing about 70% of it. After surgery, Nate developed an ileus, meaning his intestines stopped working. They have started to wake up somewhat, but they are still not functioning correctly, and he remains in the hospital for an extended stay.

Because of all of this, Nate is out of work and trying to manage the financial pressure of growing hospital bills. He is even selling off all of his belongings to help cover medical expenses. On top of that, he is missing events and functions with his daughter and is not able to plan or focus on SCBR 2027 right now.

This fundraiser is to help relieve some of the burden by covering at least a portion of Nate’s growing medical bills while he fights through this long recovery.
