A New Hip for Nate
Donation protected
Our son, Nate, has been diagnosed with avascular osteonecrosis and needs a total hip replacement. Unfortunately, Nate does not have health insurance to cover the cost of the surgery. All of his care has been entirely out of pocket. Many people have asked how they can help and for updates, and this is the simplest way to do that.
Nate began experiencing hip pain in November 2022. He was seen at urgent care and diagnosed with bursitis. He was diligent in his treatment plan, but the pain continued. In January 2023, Nate moved to Pensacola, Florida, accepted a full-time position at a local manufacturing company, and changed his lifestyle to support healing. Nate continued to pay out of pocket to alleviate his hip pain with physical therapy and chiropractic care. In September 2023, we took him to the local emergency department for X-rays because the pain had become unbearable, and he could no longer walk normally. It was then that we were told he did not have bursitis and was diagnosed with advanced avascular osteonecrosis. We were sent home with a prescription for pain medication and a referral to an orthopedic surgeon to schedule a hip replacement surgery. It has been several months, and Nate's condition has deteriorated rapidly. He uses crutches full-time to keep weight off his hip to help reduce his pain. This has significantly limited his mobility, making even the most straightforward task difficult. Despite the pain, he has continued to work full-time. This surgery has the potential to alleviate Nate's pain and restore his ability to move freely and live a normal, pain-free life. Nate is a genuine and kind person who goes out of his way to care for those he loves. His favorite pastimes are spending time with his little brother, reading, playing music, caring for his adopted cat, Tuna, and spending time with our two dogs.
After months of fighting to get Nate the care he needs, we received the news today that his surgery will be on Tuesday, December 5! The financial burden of this surgery, post-operative care, and rehabilitation is substantial, and that's where we need your help. Every contribution will make a meaningful impact, no matter how big or small. We know that money is tight, particularly this time of year, and we are unendingly grateful for every single dollar anyone shares with our family.
Here's how you can help:
