Help Support Nate Calzetoni in His Fight Against Colon Cancer
If you’ve ever been to a show in the Binghamton music scene, chances are you’ve heard the incredible talent of Nate Calzetoni. At just 28 years old, Nate is already one of the finest guitar players our community has ever seen. Since his teenage years, he has been pouring his heart into music, performing with beloved local and regional bands including Raibred, Home Brew, Honker, The Krumbs, Tritone, Grateful Upstate Toodaloo, Gratefully Yours, and more. His creativity, spirit, and unforgettable playing have brought joy to so many of us.
Recently, Nate hadn’t been feeling quite himself. After a couple of months of discomfort, everything took a terrifying turn a few weeks ago when he suddenly became faint during a show. Doctors found that his body was dangerously low on hemoglobin, and he needed multiple blood transfusions. Further testing at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca revealed a mass in his colon — colon cancer.
Nate immediately underwent emergency surgery to remove the mass and spent over a week recovering in the hospital. While he is now home and focused on healing, the road ahead is long. He will be unable to work or perform for some time, and he will need continued treatment in the coming weeks and months.
Nate has given this community so much through his music and his friendship. Now, it’s our turn to show up for him. Any contribution — big or small — will help with medical expenses, daily living costs, and the support he needs to fully recover and get back to doing what he loves most.
Thank you for keeping Nate in your thoughts and for standing by him during this difficult chapter. Let’s help get him back on his feet and back on the stage where he belongs!
