Help Nate and Holly Rebuild After Fire
Donation protected
On September 6, 2024 my condo caught fire while Nate and I were inside with our five beloved dogs. Nate hurried to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher and appeared to be successful but then the fire came back even stronger. Nate continued to attempt to put it out. Our dogs, however, were scared by the commotion and hid from me. After Nate seemed to have the fire under control a second time and 911 had been called, the fire came back even worse and rapidly engulfed the building. In the fire and smoke Nate and I tried in vain to find three of our dogs. We were barely able to get ourselves and two of our furry friends out of the house before the roof caved in. In mere moments that to us seemed like an eternity, our lives were upended and three of our pets' lives were lost. We got out with nothing but two dogs and the clothes on our backs, not even shoes. We were and are devastated.
Roughly a third of the condo was burned plus the roof that came down. The rest was damaged by water from the firefighters. Then on the very morning of our horrible fire, the HOA acquired a new policy that has $100,000 deductible. As these factors converged that day I did not have, nor expect to need to add, the additional coverage to my existing policies. My existing policies covered only the interior of the condo structure and my personal property.
I am now left with no home, no belongings, and no insurance to cover the gap of the new policy with $100,000 deductible, and my home will potentially be lost not just to the fire but to the bank as well. This ongoing struggle, and grave loss, has left Nate and I struggling to recover, both emotionally and financially. We lost not just our home, belongings, and keepsakes, but three of the best little friends we ever had: Sammy, Jezebel, and Zoey. We are reaching out to our community and beyond for support and help during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution would mean the world to us, help us find the way to start over, and recover from what may end up to be a total loss for us. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. We appreciate the time you’ve taken to read about our situation and to consider helping. It means more than you'll ever know.
