Help Natalya's Little Cesar Heal
Donation protected
Hello. My name is Natalya. When my daughter and I fled Ukraine, we had to leave little Cesar with some friends. Eight months later we finally brought him to the US by train (to Poland, over 2 days in a carrier) and then by plane (from Warsaw to Chicago). A very long journey for such a small dog! For seven years, he was a family member who brought us so much joy, so we felt he should be with us. Since then, we have been in Chicago and walking little Cesar several times a day in our neighborhood. He loves to go for walks and smell everything! Unfortunately, last Saturday morning, while my daughter was walking him on a sidewalk near our apt., a husky suddenly attacked Cesar and shook him violently. The husky was unattended at that moment and its owner ended up leaving without providing any information or taking any responsibility for the attack. (We now have video of the attack, which I do not wish to show here, but it's so horrific.) My daughter - who has already been through way more than any 14 year old should ever go through - was terrified for Cesar, who was bitten and in great pain. We rushed him to the veterinary hospital (MedVet), where they have been caring for him until now. The first day was very scary, since there were puncture wounds, possible neurological damage, and internal bleeding around the lungs causing low BP and low red cell count. The veterinarians were very worried, especially since he's so small. But after two blood transfusions and intensive care, Cesar has improved, but he is still weak and cannot stand up for more than a few seconds. We hope he will recover completely. Fingers crossed! But he's in pain now from the trauma, and we hope to bring him home soon. The veterinary bill for this kind of care is expensive and beyond our budget. Though I do not like doing this, I need to ask for help with Cesar's veterinary care. Anything you can spare for our little guy would make a big difference for all of us. He's been through enough already.
