My mom has early on-set Alzheimer's. No one really wants to hear about it, so I wrote and performed a one woman TRADICOMEDY so people had to listen to my story. As a 25 year old, I told my 55 year old mom that she had Alzheimer's, and then I tried to cure her. When that didn't work, I tried to make her feel at "home" in Memory Care. All whilst navigating doctors appointments (her’s and mine), grappling with the fact that the illness can be genetic and the possibility that I will get it, too, and considering how to comfort my mom when I, myself, need comfort from losing her in this bewildering way.
Los Angeles loved it. I had 5 SOLD OUT shows at the 2024 HOLLYWOOD FRINGE. Now I need to share it with the world. I am taking it to the largest performing arts festival in the world- the EDINBURGH FRINGE! Yes, in Scotland. In one day there are over 3000 shows, from all over the world. I am doing my show 21 times in 23 days in August and I need your help to give away tickets to people affected by or working with dementia (families, nurses, caregivers, etc.) I want to make my show accessible to all, and strengthen the dementia community.
I won't scare you with the details of how much the whole thing is costing.... but acheiving my goal for this campaign would REALLY HELP.
Thank you.
and Love,
Natalie
