Let me introduce you to my niece Natalie, an extraordinary woman hailing from the picturesque island of Barbados.

Natalie is a captivating blend of contradictions. Though she reserved, she possesses a fondness for laughter, often discovering humor in the most unusual situations. And while she may appear outgoing, there is an underlying shyness to her demeanor. Her loyalty and compassion are unwavering, and she is always ready to offer support and assistance when she perceives a need.

Natalie's career revolved around customer service and training within the airline industry. If you have ever embarked on a journey with Caribbean Star or LIAT, chances are you crossed paths with her at the Grantley Adams International Airport. However, like many of us, Natalie found herself unemployed and stripped of benefits, including insurance, when the world came to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Agonisingly, in 2023 Natalie received a diagnosis of Squamous Cell Carcinoma, a form of skin cancer. Upon learning of Natalie's diagnosis, our emotions were thrown into disarray, torn between devastation and denial.

We experienced further distress when we learned that the provision of life-saving radiotherapy treatment could not be facilitated at the local hospital - the only facility on the island that offers this life-saving treatment.

It has now been more than 6 months and Natalie has yet to receive her treatment. And because of the delay, she had to undergo a 7-hour surgery to remove infected lymph nodes in hopes that this would provide her a chance of surviving this disease.

The only way to begin this life-saving treatment is by privately funding emergency travel abroad. She turned for support to her insurance company but was met with the distressing news that management had made a decision not to honour her claim and at USD$45,000, the cost of radiotherapy plus accommodation, blood tests, scans, and other associated expenses cannot be met without your help. With each delay, her chances of positively responding to treatment decrease.

We desperately need your help to raise USD$45,000 so that Natalie may obtain the treatment she needs to survive.

This is why we are reaching out to you. Please join us in raising funds to provide Natalie with the urgent treatment she needs.

Every donation, regardless of size, will make a difference and will be deeply appreciated.
