Help Natalie fight Leukemia

We are Kate and Micheal Czuma and we have a beautiful, kind and smiling little girl, Natalie.

During a family visit to Poland in July, she suddenly fell ill and was diagnosed with acute leukemia. We were devastated. Since then our family have lived in University Children's Hospital in Krakow. She is so unwell that she is unable to travel back to our home in Paisley. Our daughter’s situation is very serious and she faces a long battle with treatment.

Treatment is difficult, long and painful for Natalie. This is a real battle for her life. She is undergoing chemotherapy, which is not only trying to destroy the cancer but is destroying her little body and as a result of this she is now battling sepsis as well.

To help with this devastating complication, we organised a collection for granulocyte mass (specially prepared from blood). The response was fantastic with many wonderful strangers and friends wanting to help our daughter.

Unfortunately, the procedure did not work out and go to plan. Natalie had a bad reaction and the doctors will no longer try this option as part of her treatment. We are further devastated by this.

Natalie has just spent her 11th birthday in hospital. She was so excited and looking forward to becoming a tween-ager. But not in our wildest dreams would we have thought her birthday would be in a hospital bed in an oncology ward with only one parent at once allowed to visit.

Natalie was due to start primary 7 at Heriot Primary in Paisley. She hasn’t even made it to school this term. She misses her friends and her normal life in Scotland. We all do.

I am currently not able to work. I need to be here for Natalie, she is a child and is scared - we all are. I will need to be here for around 6-7 months, if everything goes well. My employer has offered unpaid leave only. Universal Credit has been stopped as I am not in the UK, even though my child is dying.

Natalie’s dad, Micheal, is self employed and he simply cannot be in two different places at once. Each day he has to cover all of his business expenses even when he is here by our sides. He has been regularly flying back and forward, which is very expensive. When he is back in Scotland, he is working as many hours as he physically can to try and cover basic bills, keep our house in Scotland and help us with the cost of living in Poland.

This is a complete, living nightmare for us, treatment costs and living costs are spiralling - so we need to ask for your financial help to allow us to worry a little less about the financial aspect of things so we can focus even more of our energy on our beautiful Natalie.
